Wells Fargo Center for the Arts is committed to showcasing student artwork from schools and classrooms around the county. We are pleased to exhibit this art project from Barbara Ginther’s students at Northwest Prep in Santa Rosa where Ms. Ginther teaches art, history and science. In this project, students are able to fuse concepts from art with concepts learned in other curricular areas.

20th Century Art
About the Exhibit
20th century art is the most versatile in history and is a reflection of an expanding world of science, travel, industry and innovation. The arts also are a reflection of the artist and his or her interpretation of the world. Students were challenged in this project to investigate the life and work of Wassily Kandisky and offer their own interpretations of the world exploring his style. The result is a colorful work with free flowing color and line that suggests, but does not define, the images. Several varieties of Japanese masa paper, watercolor paint and ink were used to complete the project. The different types of masa paper hold color differently which invites students to experiment with the media.
