Student Artwork
As you find your way to balcony seating at Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, we hope you’ll take a few moments to enjoy the fantastic student artwork hanging in the corridor just outside of our administration offices. This student art exhibit provides an opportunity for some of our community’s most talented young artists to share a little insight into the creative voice of the next generation. And, while showcasing student talent, the exhibit also demonstrates the importance of providing art classes in our schools.
On Exhibit Now:
“Science & Art in Harmony”
This exhibit is an excellent example of how children can learn about the world through the lens of the arts. The project combines lessons in science with lessons in visual art and the performing arts, bringing the concepts of symbiosis and metamorphosis fully to life.

On exhibit in the Student Art Gallery are prints of original work created by sixth grade students from Mark West Elementary School. Working with local artist Inya Laskowski, students learned techniques in blending, layering, pattern, color, and texture to create stunning oil pastel flowers.
On exhibit in our West Atrium is a collection of beautiful translucent butterflies drifting from theskylights. In this project, 100 kindergarten through second grade students from Alexander Valley Elementary, San Miguel Elementary, and Sonoma Charter schools studied the life cycle and migration habits of butterflies. Those lessons came vibrantly to life on stage with our school performance of Butterfly: A Story of a Life Cycle. And, by working with artist Deborah Padrick through our Artists in the Schools program, students learned symmetry, color, and texture to create their own visual examples of science and art in harmony.
