Student Artwork

As you find your way to balcony seating at Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, we hope you’ll take a few moments to enjoy the fantastic student artwork hanging in the corridor just outside of our administration offices. This student art exhibit provides an opportunity for some of our community’s most talented young artists to share a little insight into the creative voice of the next generation. And, while showcasing student talent, the exhibit also demonstrates the importance of providing art classes in our schools.

The images on exhibit are a collection of work from advanced ArtQuest photography students for the annual holiday edition of the North Bay Bohemian. This is the third year that editor, Gretchen Giles has invited students to collaborate on this photo spread.

The assignment was to explore Sonoma County from a non-tourist perspective. Where do locals shop, eat and visit?  Students were prompted to consider this year’s ArtQuest theme, PROject eARTh for deciding on a location from which to create a meaningful visual statement.  Each student was instructed to produce a photographic essay of six silver gelatin black and white prints and one digital color print. Only one print was selected for publication from each student for the Bohemian newspaper and only three of each student’s series are on display at the Arts Center.
