Student Artwork

As you find your way to balcony seating at Wells Fargo Center for the Arts, we hope you’ll take a few moments to enjoy the fantastic student artwork hanging in the corridor just outside of our administration offices. This student art exhibit provides an opportunity for some of our community’s most talented young artists to share a little insight into the creative voice of the next generation. And, while showcasing student talent, the exhibit also demonstrates the importance of providing art classes in our schools.

On Exhibit Now:
“What Do I See...When I Look at Me?”

Currently on exhibit in our Student Art Gallery are self-portraits from kindergarten students at two different local schools. Standards based projects such as these are common to kindergarten instruction as students explore who they are and how to be good citizens.

school The three-dimensional self portraits were created by Carol Pierpoint’s kindergarten students at Santa Rosa Christian School. Students used paper, scissors, and glue to create unique collages. Students were challenged to explore and depict as much detail about themselves as possible; from eyelashes to freckles, each collage is a unique reflection of its artist.

The watercolor self-portraits were created by Jennifer Sills’ kindergarten students at Santa Rosa Charter School for the Arts. Students used pencils, pens, and watercolor dies to create vibrant reflections of themselves. They were given three colors—magenta, yellow, and blue—and were encouraged to experiment with mixing.
