Education Through the Arts

Quietly (and not so quietly) at work outside of the spotlight, the Center's Education Through the Arts program serves to enrich the lives of children and adults in our community through a broad range of learning opportunities. One of the leading programs of its kind nationwide, the Center's approach to arts education is both unique and highly effective. It not only teaches about the arts (music, theater, dance, and visual art) but also uses the arts as a dynamic tool for teaching and learning all core subjects, such as math, science, and literature. Hence the name:  Education THROUGH the Arts.

For Grades K-12

The Center's performances for school groups, Artists in the Schools residencies, Set the Stage classroom visits, specially designed study guides and Music For Schools instrument lending library directly assist with school district curriculum for grades K-12, while also helping to build young audiences for the performing arts. Financial assistance and teacher information are available to help provide the power of the arts to more students.

For Adult Learners

For adults, we support life-long learning through the arts by providing Professional Development workshops for teachers, Pre and Post-Show Discussions to add greater understanding and enjoyment to the performing arts experience, and Master Classes presented by world-class performing artists.

The Arts Center's education programs are highly subsidized in order to keep costs affordable for all. Thanks to the generosity our community, we serve more than 30,000 children and adults annually.  THANK YOU!
