History and literature are, in essence, stories told from a particular point of view. Helping students recognize various perspectives when analyzing historical events and literature allows them to understand complex issues and develop critical thinking skills. In this workshop, teachers learn creative drama strategies that enable students to better examine characters and situations. By enacting texts, sketching, and journaling, students explore different points of view on the same event, expand their empathy for others, and improve literacy. Get ready for Tom Sawyer, Sonoma County’s choice for The Big Read, by attending this workshop and adding exciting drama techniques to your teaching toolbox!
Led by Kennedy Center teaching artist Judy Thibault Klevins.
