Many Hands Make Light Work - Three Cheers for Our Volunteers!

Home  ›  Support / Membership  ›  Volunteer

From ushering at a performance to working with students through our education program, our 300-plus volunteers provide vital service to the Arts Center and bring the enrichment of the arts to our community.

The saying “many hands make light work” rings true every day at Wells Fargo Center for the Arts. The Center relies on support from hundreds of volunteers.

I just love the energy and sense of community that I feel when I’m here,” says volunteer Mary Liberatore, who works with the Center’s Luther Burbank Memorial Foundation Guild. “I’ve loved and participated in the arts my whole life and I don’t intend to stop now.”

Center volunteers include ushers who seat patrons and attend to their needs at shows and events, guild members who serve food and beverages in the lobby, docents visiting schools on behalf of our education program, aids who help families to make arts and crafts together prior to shows, administrative volunteers who support Center operations and programs, and last but certainly not least, the Center’s volunteer board of directors who provide essential oversight and leadership.

We salute our 300-plus volunteers who provide tens-of-thousands of dollars in donated services annually.

Thank you!  We couldn’t do it without you!

Volunteer Opportunites

Your free time and special skills can make a tremendous difference in helping us to enrich, educate, and entertain our North Bay community. In return, we offer ticket vouchers to our many outstanding performances, an annual volunteer appreciation party, and a heartfelt thank you!

Luther Burbank Memorial Foundation Guild

Guild members offer a unique gift of their time and skills to promote our beverage service in the lobby. The Guild’s mission is to assure a positive, memorable experience for the patrons and their guests. In addition to the beverage service, Guild members also volunteer their time assisting with large mailings and serving at private receptions held at the Center. Beverage service represents the Guild’s monetary donations to Wells Fargo Center for the Arts. The funds are used in support of capital improvements. Members also meet monthly for luncheon and socializing.

Volunteer Usher

The Usher Program consists of friendly and energetic volunteers who assist at Center events by greeting patrons; checking and taking tickets; passing out programs and escorting patrons to their seats; answering patron questions and providing general assistance; and assisting patrons while exiting the theater after the performance. Our Ushers are expected to provide the utmost in service to our patrons to guarantee a great experience during their visit with us. Ushering requires standing for extended periods of time.

Set the Stage Docent

This wonderful volunteer opportunity is especially suited for retired teachers or those with classroom experience. We provide specialized training to prepare you to visit local classrooms for a brief presentation where you’ll share valuable pre-show information to students who will soon be attending our school shows, often a child’s first experience with live theater.

Fun with Art Volunteer

Do you enjoy working with families and love art? If so, this is a great way to share the wonder and joy of the arts with the next generation! Before each of our Family Fun Series performances, you’ll help set up the Fun with Art project and assist families while they make art together.

Administration Volunteers

The Administrative office offers opportunities for assisting staff from various departments with special projects such as preparing mailings, data entry and reception service. Departments include Development, Programming (arts, entertainment and education), Operations, Entertainment, Business Partnerships and Community Rentals, and Finance.

For more information, please email Candice Day, Executive Administrator or call 707.800.7502.
