Wells Fargo Center for the Arts is proud to showcase student artwork from around the county. The current exhibit features artwork from the Center’s second annual summer art camp designed specifically for students entering 4th through 7th grades.
Led by local teaching artist Judy Timmerman, students explored a variety of techniques and materials during the creative and fun-filled camp. “The intent behind camp is to make art accessible for kids while also being fun, hands-on, and experiential,” said Tracy Sawyer, Arts & Outreach Programs Manager.
The exhibit features two-dimensional works, including a sampler of special effects in water color, a piece inspired by Edvard Munch’s famous piece, “The Scream,” individual “tags,” and a piece in the style of Gustav Klimt. Throughout the weeklong camp, students experimented with a variety of mediums as inspired by well-known artists including Wassily Kandinsky, Alberto Giacometti, Keith Haring, and others. The exhibit also includes a collage of photographs showcasing the focus and attention of an amazing group of enthusiastic artists.
The Center is thrilled to offer hands-on learning experiences to children year-round through our summer art, music, and theater camps as well as our Artists in the Schools and Music For Schools programs. We know you will enjoy the work created by a group of fabulous Sonoma County student artists.
