Bringing Timelines to Life Through Drama
Teaching Artist/Presenter: Sean Layne
Recommended for educators of grades 2-6
Maximum number of participants: 30
Timelines are excellent devices for helping students organize information and see connections. For many students, however, the information provided in timelines is often abstract and difficult to comprehend. In this workshop, Kennedy Center Teaching Artist Sean Layne shares a theatrical technique known as tableau that will breathe life into static timelines and bring them to life. Tableau provides creative, controlled, low-risk dramatic experiences that help students apply their knowledge and expand their understanding of specific moments in time. The techniques can be applied to timelines related to history, literature, and even science.
