I have been drawing and painting for as long as I can remember.
I was told it “could be my hobby,” went on to college and Medical School and have been a pediatrician at Kaiser Permanente in Santa Rosa for the past 20 or so years.
I love pediatrics in many ways—the opportunity for intimate contact with people, watching kids and families grow, solving mysteries, doing something useful and helpful…yet I continue to paint.
It satisfies a completely different part of myself—non-verbal, non-linear, Intuitive and spiritual—a search for a deep honesty and truth of my own.
I see the world in different ways—and like to draw and paint people, landscapes, still lives, abstractions—usually expressively. The subject of a painting is a focus to explore what seems most important, beautiful, or valuable right then….in the moment.
I have been painting for several years with Carole Watanabe and other good friends at Art Heaven, a shared art studio in Sebastopol. I have also worked with and learned from Maury Lapp, Lisa Beernsten, Alan Azhderian and Michael Loffredo.
